BREDA, the Netherlands -- Dockwise has agreed to provide offshore transportation for all rigs operated by Seadrill and its subsidiaries.
The master service agreement (MSA) provides a framework for all future contracts, standardizing and simplifying the booking processes, with associated efficiency savings.
It does not cover commercial arrangements, which vary according to the rig and its voyage, such as prices, demurrage and additional services, which must be negotiated for each individual transport.
Seadrill has a 47-strong fleet which includes semisubmersibles, drillships, jackups, and tender rigs, with a further 12 on order or under construction. During the past three years, Dockwise has performed transportation for six of the group’s rigs.
The first likely assignment under the MSA will start this summer, when Mighty Servant 1 will transport Seadrill's 28,000 metric-ton (30,865-ton) jackup West Elara from Singapore to Norway.
Aside from this award, Dockwise subsidiary Dockwise Shipping has secured nine heavy marine transport contracts recently with a total value of over $30 million.
One involves taking Baerfield Drilling LLC’s semisubmersible rigSS Amazonia from Yantai, China, to Angra Dos Reis, Brazil. The voyage will start shortly using the float-on, float-off method.
The company will also transport the jackupBen Avon for KCA Deutag PTE. After loading the rig in Port Gentil, Gabon, Dockwise’s semisubmersible vessel will remain at the location to provide for planned dry docking operations to be completed on the rig.
Farther south, Dockwise is conveying theLewek Chancellor accommodation barge to Luanda on behalf of EMAS Offshore Pte. Other contract awards include transport of a barge, four jackup rigs, and a crane barge to various locations.
