RIO DE JANEIRO -- Petrobras has completed a drillstem test on the Guará Norte appraisal well (3-SPS-69) in block BM-S-9 in the Santos basin.

The DST confirmed productivity of roughly 6,000 b/d of light oil (30° API). Flow rates were constrained by test facility capacity. According to partner BG Group, the well could potentially deliver around 50 000 b/d.

Results from Guará Norte match those recorded from the DST on the original Guará well (1-SPS-55), and highlight the strong reservoir characteristics.

Guará Norte was drilled in a water depth of 2,118 m (6,949 ft), 305 km (189 mi) off the coast of Sao Paulo state and 15 km (9.3 mi) northeast of the discovery well.
