BREDA, the Netherlands -- Dockwise has agreed to sell its Type IV transportation vessel MV Explorer to an unnamed buyer.

The vessel has been in service for almost 30 years, and would have required substantial lifetime extension investment to meet Dockwise's offshore equipment standards. The buyer plans to convert it to a floating power plant.

André Goedée, CEO of Dockwise, said: "With the sale of Explorer, Dockwise no longer operates type IV vessels…This divestment further optimizes the composition of the Dockwise fleet and increases focus on the premium end of the business."
