BP, Aker renew maintenance accord

BP Norge has extended its maintenance and modification contract with Aker Offshore .

OSLO, Norway -- BP Norge has extended its maintenance and modification contract with Aker Offshore .

The company has exercised a one-year option in its existing agreement for the Ula, Valhall, Hod, and Tambar fields in the North Sea. Work under the new option will last through April 2012. The estimated value of the contract value is NOK 200-300 million ($36-54 million).

The two parties signed the original maintenance and modification contract in 2005.

Aker’s work scope includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and maintenance support services, which currently involve around 280 people in Stavanger, 50 in Egersund, and 1,000 in offshore rotation.

The contract also includes hook-up and completion of the new PH platform at Valhall and the tie-in of facilities for DONG Energy’s Oselvar development to the Ula field.
