PORT STANLEY, Falkland Islands -- Argos has completed acquisition of 3D seismic data over its PL001 license in the offshore North Falkland basin.

The 1,415-sq km (546-sq mi) coverage includes a halo outside the license boundaries and tie-ins to key wells.

Argos says it has carved out a priority area for fasttrack processing to be ready for interpretation and prospect mapping by July.

The company hopes to start exploration drilling in late 2011/early 2012 to take an option for the semisubmersible Ocean Guardian which has drilled multiple wells in the area for Rockhopper and Desire Petroleum.

Argos is also using a seismic vessel under contract in the area to acquire further 3D data in open acreage north of its license. The aim is to identify additional prospectivity in the northerly continuation of the basin.
