HOUSTON – Fugro Robertson has chosen the 2011 American Association of Petroleum Geologists’ Annual Conference & Exhibition to debut RoqSCAN. Developed in conjunction with Carl Zeiss optics, RoqSCAN is a portable rock properties analyzer.

The system can analyze cuttings from downhole and generate quantitative mineralogical and textural datasets within one hour of receipt, says Fugro Robertson. These data include bulk mineralogy, lithology, mineral types and ratios, grain sizes, etc., correlated to source depth.

The portable system has a ruggedized base scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive x-ray detectors, and an electronic processor designed by Fugro/Zeiss.
