MARLOW, UK -- SBM Offshore has contracted FoundOcean for offshore grouting services for the MOPUstor jackup platform Phase II installation in the Yme oilfield, offshore Norway.

Grouting equipment has been sent to the work vessel. FoundOcean now awaits a suitable work window prior to mobilization of the 12-man crew. Operations should last five days.

Talisman Energy operates the Yme re-development in the North Sea. The MOPUstor comprises a three-legged topsides facility connected to the towers and oil storage tank on the sea floor.

The connection between the legs and the towers will be made by injecting a cement grout into the annuli.

A subsea grouting manifold fitted with subsea male grout connectors is located at -43.5 m (143 ft) on the substructure. An ROV will guide into position a female grout connector fitted to the grout hose.

The grout hose will be supported by a steel down line fitted with buoyancy floats from the installation vessel, the aim being to minimize drag on the ROV.
