SHARJAH, UAE – Fabricator Lamprell has issued an update on offshore construction programs at its facilities in Jebel Ali and Hamriyah facilities.

In July the company signed a contract with the National Drilling Co., Abu Dhabi, to build two LeTourneau S116E jackups. Engineering and procurement are both well advanced and construction is under way at Hamriyah – both rigs are on schedule for delivery next year.

In November Lamprell won a $210-million contract from Eurasia Drilling Co. for construction and delivery of a LeTourneau S116E. This rig will be constructed in modular form at Hamriyah then transported via the Volga Don canal to the Caspian Sea for final assembly.

Construction of the hull modules started early this year, and transportation to the Caspian Sea is scheduled for early 1Q 2012 with final delivery in 2013.

At the Jebel Ali complex, the final process module for the new Aquila FPSO off southern Italy was delivered earlier this year to Saipem Energy Services.

Throughout 2010, two well head platforms with associated jackets and piles were under construction for an unnamed oil and gas operator, and these should be delivered soon.

Late last year Lamprell won a $39-million contract from an integrated energy provider to construct an offshore topside structure comprising a two-level utility deck and a five-level accommodation module for 38 personnel.

This project will be constructed to North Sea standards and the structures should be delivered alongside the Jebel Ali quay in 1Q 2012.

By the end of last year, Lamprell’s new Hamriyah facility was fully operational with main components of the yard completed. Construction process continues, with the remaining features, including a new administration building, main stores, and structural fabrication and piping workshops, due to be finished by end-2011.
