PARIS -- Statoil has awarded Nexans a €18-million ($25.3 million) contract for umbilicals linking the Gygrid field to the Njord A platform in the Norwegian Sea.
Gygrid, discovered in November 2009, contains 23 MMboe recoverable. It is being developed via a 20-km (12.4 mi) tieback to the Njord field facilities.
Nexans will supply 19.5 km of static umbilical providing hydraulic and power control functions; a 650-m (2,132-ft) dynamic umbilical; and a 700-m (2,296-ft) gas lift/subsea isolation valve dynamic umbilical to connect the static umbilical to Njord A.
In addition, the company will provide transition joints, termination work, connectors, repair joints, and abandonment kit.
The umbilicals will be designed and manufactured in Halden, Norway, and should be delivered in May 2012. Installation depths for this project range from 330 m (1,082 ft) at Njord A to 265 m (869 ft) over Gygrid.
