MOSCOW – Gazprom plans to drill two gas production wells this year on the Kirinskoye field, 28 km (17.4 mi) offshore Sakhalin Island in the Sea of Okhotsk.

Output from the field will provide feedstock for the new Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok gas transmission system. Gazprom also plans to start construction of an associated onshore processing facility (OPF).

FEED development is nearly complete for construction of a 140-km (87-mi) gas pipeline from the OPF to the Sakhalin main compressor station. This line is designed to receive gas not only from Kirinskoye field, but also from other fields in the Kirinsky block within the Sakhalin III project.

Kirinskoye is in 90 m (295 ft) water depth. Gazprom estimates reserves at 100 bcm (3.5 tcf) of gas and 11.4 MM tons of gas/condensate.

Last September, the company discovered a new field in the Kirinsky block, and plans follow-up exploration between now and 2013.
