MANILA, the Philippines -- CGG Veritas has completed a program of seismic acquisition over Service Contract 72 offshore the Philippines for Forum Energy, using the M/V Veritas Voyager.

As part of the work program, it acquired over 564 sq. km. (218 sq. mi.) of 3D seismic data over the Sampaguita gas field and 2,202 line-km. (1,368 mi.) of 2D seismic over the block, in order to further define additional leads identified within the acreage.

Forum will process the data with the aim of further evaluating the block’s commercial potential and to identify locations for appraisal wells in the next sub-phase of the SC72 license.

SC 72 (ex-GSEC101) is an 8,800-sq. km. (3,397-sq. mi.) license 100 km (62 mi.) offshore West Palawan in the South China Sea. Forum Energy holds a 70% equity interest.

Results from a 248-sq. km. (95.7-sq. mi.) 3D seismic survey over the license area in 2006 indicated mean gas in place at the Sampaguita gas discovery of 3.4 tcf.
