LONDON -- Hoang Long Joint Operating Co. (JOC) has completed operations on four batch-drilled development wells offshore southern Vietnam.
The wells are for the ongoing Te Giac Trang (TGT) project in block 16-1 in the Cuu Long basin.
According to partner SOCO International, preliminary petrophysical analysis of wells TGT-4P to-7P suggest they have confirmed the reservoir model.
The TGT-4P well, drilled in the southwest of the northern fault block, encountered the top of the target reservoir horizon lower than prognosed; however, it also intersected previously unmapped hydrocarbons in the Oligocene “C” reservoir.
TGT-5P, drilled in the northern part of the field, encountered the main reservoir as expected, while TGT-6P, drilled in the southern part of the northern fault block, encountered the main reservoir.
Finally, drilled in the central area, came into the main reservoir horizon as predicted, but also intersected a thicker-than expected pay section.
Work has since started on the eight development well, TGT-8P, targeting the central area of the H1.2 fault block, near the TGT-1X discovery well. It should take around 30 days to drill and complete.
The rig then will be released to allow installation operations to start for the in-field pipelines and the TGT FPSO. All wells are being suspended and will become producers following start-up of production in August.
SOCO says plateau output during this first phase of development should reach 55,000 b/d of oil.
