Bualuang reserves upgraded, says Salamander

Salamander Energy Plc says it has upgraded it oil reserves estimate for Bualuang field offshore Thailand.

LONDON – Salamander Energy Plc says it has upgraded it oil reserves estimate for Bualuang field offshore Thailand. RPS Energy analyzed the field, modeled the wells, and bumped up its recoverable reserves estimate from 6.9 MMbbl to 14.6 MMbbl.

At the same time, Salamander says it started a drilling campaign in license B8/38 in the Gulf of Thailand. That area includes Bualuang and other prospects. The Ocean Sovereign jackup is under contract until the end of June 2011. The rig is at the Bualuang Well Head Platform and has begun the first of six planned development wells on the license.
