BG starts work on Gullris

TRONDHEIM, Norway -- Drilling is under way on the Gullris prospect in Norwegian Sea PL 522, operated by BG Norway.

According to partner Det norske oljesleskap, this is a large gas prospect with gross unrisked resources in the range 700-1,700 MMboe. The semisubmersible rig Aker Barents is drilling the well (6604/2-1) in a water depth of 1,266 m (4,153 ft), with a planned TD of 3,500 m (11,483 ft).

Det norske is also partnering Statoil on its current well on the Krafla oil prospect in Norwegian North Sea licenses 035 and 272.

Krafla is between the Oseberg and Frigg fields, 158 km (98 mi) west of Bergen. The semisub Ocean Vanguard is drilling well 30/11-8S in a water depth of 106 m (348 ft). Det norske estimates Krafla’s unrisked resources at 10-50MMboe.
