STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Development drilling remains on schedule at the Azurite field off Republic of Congo, according to partner PA Resources (PAR).

In February, a third water injector was completed and brought into operation. However, production was affected by the need to remove the field’s two subsea pumps for repair, with one replacement pump being installed.

The poorly performing second production well is being abandoned to be replaced by the last planned producer. Drilling on that well is under way.

The partners have also negotiated improved fiscal terms for the production sharing contract for the Azurite field and the surrounding Mer Profonde Sud license.

Murphy West Africa Ltd operates the concession with a 50%, the remainder held by PA Resources (35%) and Société Nationale Petroles du Congo (15%).
