Offshore staff
DHAHRAN, Saudi Arabia -- Saudi Aramco has taken delivery of its latest repair barge, the ARB-3, from Jurong Shipyard in Singapore. It will be operated by the Safaniya Offshore Producing Department.
The vessel is 110 m (361 ft) long, 42.5 m (139 ft) wide, 9 m (29.5 ft) deep, and is designed to operate in water depths of 5-60 m (16-197 ft). It will provide support to Saudi Aramco’s offshore facilities, particularly to the company’s Northern Area oil operations in the Eastern Region.
Its functions will include repair of subsea pipelines, terminal support, plant test and inspections, diving support, structure repairs, abrasive blasting and painting, heavy lifts and platform installations, and recovery and repair of subsea power and fiber-optic cables.
ARB-3 provides offshore accommodation for 124 people in a five-tier superstructure on the main deck, with a helideck above the accommodation area. The vessel’s heavy-lift crane can lift load up to 550 metric tons (606 tons).
