OSLO, Norway -- Statoil has contracted Aker Subsea for control umbilicals for tiebacks to the Norne field in the Norwegian Sea. The contract value is around $36 million.
Aker’s work scope for the Fossekall-Dompap project includes a control umbilical system with 26 km (16.2 mi) of dynamic and static sections. The umbilicals will provide hydraulic, electrical and fiber optic functions for three four-slot templates. A 2.5-in. (6.3-cm) mono ethylene glycol (MRG) line will ensure hydrate prevention and inhibition during shutdowns.
Engineering of the umbilicals will be managed from Aker Solutions' center in Oslo, with manufacturing performed at the company’s plant in Moss, Norway. Final deliveries are due in spring 2012.
Norne is 200 km (124 mi) west of Sandessjøen in a water depth of 380 m (1,247 ft). It has been developed via an FPSO with numerous subsea satellites linked to seabed templates.
