STRAUME, Norway -- Polish E&P company LOTOS Petrobaltic has contracted AGR Drilling Services for inspection services for the jackup Beta Baltic. AGR will excavate the rig’s three legs to allow inspection of connections between the legs and the spud cans.

The one-month project, which starts in April, involves removal of sand, sludge, clay, and other debris from the seabed.

Last year, AGR excavated 9 m (29.5 ft) below the seabed around one of the legs, removing over 300 cu m (392 cu yd) of material, facilitating inspection of braces and struts for a certification program. Under the new work, it will clear the remaining chords of Leg 3 and the other two legs, using its high power, ROV-deployed suction-dredging pump.
