Tap finds gas off Western Australia

WEST PERTH, Australia – Early indications are the Zola 1 exploration well in permit WA-290-P offshore Western Australia is a gas discovery, says Tap Oil Ltd. Drilling continues to complete the well program.

In the Carnarvon basin south of the Gorgon gas field, the well is in 285 m (935 ft) of water. The Mungaroo formation at 4,300 m (14,108 ft) below sea level is the primary target, and secondary targets are sought by a TD of 5,000 m (16,404 ft).

The gas indications come from mud log and LWD data.
