RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has acquired 50% of block 4 offshore Benin from Compagnie Béninoise des Hydrocarbures. The block covers 7,400 sq km (2,857 sq mi) in waters from 200 to 3,000 m (656 to 9,840 ft) deep some 60 km (37 mi) from shore.
Petrobras’ work commitment is to collect and process 2,250 sq km (869 sq mi) of 3D seismic data still this year. Once the exploratory potential is confirmed, the consortium plans to drill three wells.
