OSLO, Norway – Statoil has issued a letter of intent (LOI) to Aker Subsea for a subsea workover system for the Vigdis North East development in the North Sea. The estimated value of the contract is around $85 million. Work scope includes a complete suite of components for open water workover operations.

"Our equipment enables higher efficiency and lower costs, resulting in more wells being drilled and completed," said Mads Andersen, executive VP of Aker Solutions' subsea business area.

The Vigdis North East contract will be managed out of Aker Solutions' Technology and Manufacturing Center in Tranby, Norway. Manufacturing of the well control package and riser elements will be performed in Tranby and the control systems in Aberdeen. Final deliveries should be made in June 2012.

Vigdis North East is a fast-track development in water depths of around 280 m (817 ft).
