South Pars 12 nearing first gas

TEHRAN -- Development drilling is progressing at the South Pars Phase XII project in the Persian Gulf, according to Iranian news service Shana.

Phase XII engineer Mahmoud Javadian told Shana that one of 12 planned gas production wells had been drilled, while the other 11 had reached the reservoir. He expected these remaining wells to take 220 days to drill and complete.

This could lead to first gas being transferred to the onshore processing plant by late September.

The project involves installing four platforms, designed to deliver production of 750 MMcf/d over the next 30 years.

Phase XII supervisor Ahmad Azar added that installation of a 145-km (90-mi) pipeline would be completed during the first quarter of the new Iranian year (starting March 21).
