Dragados to build platforms for Hess

Hess Denmark has contracted Dragados Offshore to build two platforms for the South Arne Phase III development in the Danish North Sea.

PUERTO REAL, Spain -- Hess Denmark has contracted Dragados Offshore to build two platforms for the South Arne Phase III development in the Danish North Sea.

The scope of the contract covers engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of two wellhead platforms, weighing respectively 1,600 tons and 1,350 tons, and their two jackets, weighing 2.600 tons each.

Detail engineering of the EPC contract is subcontracted to KBR, under Dragados Offshore’s supervision.

The project’s target window for delivery is between April and June 2012. This includes a seven-week period for onshore commissioning of the platforms within the Puerto Real yard in southeast Spain.

During construction, Dragados Offshore expects to employ an average of 400 personnel, peaking at around 700.
