Deep Driller-1 appraises KG block find

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands -- Gujarat State Petroleum Corp has spudded the second appraisal well in the Deen Dayal East area of the Krishna Godavari basin offshore India.

According to partner Jubilant Offshore Drilling, well DDE-APP-1 is being drilled by Aban Offshore’s Deep Driller-1 rig in 101 m (331 ft) water depth in block KG-OSN-2001/3.

The target depth is 4,750 m (15,584 ft) TVD, the aim being to appraise the hydrocarbon- bearing sands of the KG-16 discovery well.

This is the 17th well the consortium has drilled on the block. The previous 12 wells all tested gas and condensate. Of these, four were drilled in Deen Dayal West, two in Deen Dayal East, two in Deen Dayal North, two in Deen Dayal North East-BRU, and two in Deen Dayal Downthrown.
