PERTH, Australia -- The Clough Helix Joint Venture has a letter of intent to provide installation support activities for the Huizhou field offshore China. COOEC Subsea Technology Co. is likely to confirm the contract award within the next fortnight.

The contract is based on a day rate with a minimum commitment of 120 days, plus options for extensions. The scope of work covers project management, offshore installation engineering, and offshore construction services by Clough’s subsea construction vessel Normand Clough.

The project involves installation of a turret loading buoy and associated risers, mid-water arches, anchors, mooring chains, and wire segments in water depths of around 115 m (377 ft), and retrieval of previously installed mooring lines.

Engineering will start immediately, with the Normand Clough mobilizing from Singapore after it has installed a saturation diving spread related to a well intervention program offshore China.

Huizhou field is operated by the CACT Operators Group, comprising CNOOC, Agip China, Chevron Overseas Petroleum, and Texaco China. The field is 190 km (118 mi) southeast off the coast of Hong Kong and is expected to generate 400 MMcf/d of natural gas.
