TURRIFF, UK -- ACE Winches’ Hire Equipment division is nearing completion of a $7.7-million contract for Petronas/MMHE offshore Turkmenistan.

The project involves installing a topside and jacket in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. ACE Winches has deployed from Aberdeen 20 winch packages with a total weight of over 1,000 metric tons (1,102 tons).

These were shipped by sea freight from Aberdeen last August, and transported through the Russian canal system before arriving in the southern part of the Caspian Sea 30 days later.

Offshore Saudi Arabia, J Ray McDermott recently contracted ACE Winches Hire Division to install a 5-km (3.1-mi) offshore communications cable for Saudi Aramco.

ACE Winches supplied a traction winching system, pulling a floating, synthetic rope to deploy the cable from the offshore operations vessel to the beach.
