STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has contracted the semisubmersible COSL Pioneer drilling rig from COSL Drilling Europe to use on the Norwegian continental shelf starting in mid-2011.
The exact rig work program is being determined by relevant clauses in the NCS permits. Plans call for the semisubmersible rig to be used for both production and exploration drilling, says Statoil.
The contract is part of Statoil’s effort to maintain its current production level for the next decade.
