McDermott to build platform for Arena's Riker

Arena Offshore LP has contracted McDermott International Inc. to build and install a platform at the Riker prospect in Eugene Island block 338 in 275 ft (84 m) of water in the Gulf of Mexico.

HOUSTON – Arena Offshore LP has contracted McDermott International Inc. to build and install a platform at the Riker prospect in Eugene Island block 338 in 275 ft (84 m) of water in the Gulf of Mexico.

McDermott says its Morgan City, Louisiana, facility will construct, assemble, test, coat, load-out, and tie down the four-pile jacket. The jacket will be designed for 20 well slots and will contain processing capabilities and a self-contained drilling rig. Its capacity will be 20 MMcf/d of gas, 7,500 b/d of oil, ad 12,500 b/d of water.

First steel is expected to be cut in 3Q 2011 with offshore work starting in 2Q 2012.
