TORONTO, Canada -- WesternGeco has started work on a 3D seismic survey offshore central Israel for Adira Energy. The 530-sq km (204-sq mi) survey will span the Yitzhak and Gabriella licenses, where Adira has identified numerous oil targets.

The dual axis survey, a technology which Adira claims is a first for Israeli waters, is designed to define the exact target and structure. Two independent 3D surveys will overlay each other at opposing axes.

Adira Energy, President and COO, Colin Kinley, said last week that the first axis was 60% complete.

The company expects to complete the Gabriella and Yitzhak programs early in January and plans to start a 300-sq km (116-sq mi) 3D survey over its Samuel offshore license by mid-2011.
