CALGARY, Canada -- Ithaca Energy (UK) has contracted Bibby Offshore to install subsea equipment and the FPSO mooring system for the Athena development in the UK central North Sea.

Bibby will install subsea manifolds, flowlines, power cables, and umbilicals between the subsea wellheads and the FPSO BW Athena. The scope takes in the seabed sections (to be trenched) and the dynamic riser sections leading to the tethered APL STP buoy mooring system.

Placement of the buoy will involve installation of nine suction piles, and associated anchor lines.

Ithaca is developing the Athena field initially with four production wells supported by one water injection well.

Production will be routed via the subsea manifold and a 2-km (1.24-mi), 8-in. (20.3-cm) flowline to the FPSO. Oil will be exported via shuttle tankers, with produced gas used to generate power on the FPSO.
