ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan -- Dragon Oil has completed drilling and initial testing of two more wells in its Cheleken Contract Area fields in the Caspian Sea. Dzheitune (Lam) B/148 was the third in a series of wells drilled from the Dzheitune (Lam) B platform by the Iran Khazar rig.

It was drilled to a depth of 3,858 m (12,657 ft) and completed with dual strings. Testing of the short and long strings brought oil production rates of 1,556 b/d and 1,083 b/d. The rig has since started the Dzheitune (Lam) B/150 well.

Dzheitune (Lam) 28/149, was drilled by the NIS rig to a depth of 3,295 m (10,810 ft), and also completed with dual strings. Here the short string tested at 1,866 b/d with the long string testing at 2,513 b/d.

NIS has since skidded to the next slot on the Dzheitune (Lam) 28 platform and spud the 28/151 well. Both the current wells should come on stream before year-end.
