Sea Trucks expands deepwater vessel fleet

SINGAPORE -- Sea Trucks Group has officially named the Jascon 34, its newly outfitted and commissioned DP-3 pipelay/heavy-lift vessel, at a ceremony the Kwong Soon Shipyard.

It was attended by government officials from the Federal Republic of Nigeria and managing directors of major oil companies operating in Nigeria and internationally.

Jascon 34 is suited to operations in deepwater regions, and was built to the Sea Trucks hybrid design concept. Its main features are its rigid and/or flexible pipelay capability, a large, unobstructed deck area, high-capacity cranes, accommodation with 335 beds, and its DP-3 positioning system.

The vessel was built to ABS Classification rules. Recently it completed sea and pipelay trials and will shortly start its first assignment.

Jacques J. Roomans, president and CEO of Sea Trucks Group, said: “We have now completed four vessels in our seven-vessel DP-3 investment program, all built according to our unique hybrid design concept aimed at providing the industry and our clients a flexible, multi- purpose solution. Three further state of the art vessels will also be delivered to us during the next two and a half years.”

• Class: ABS – Flag: Gibraltar
• Total thruster power: 12,305 kW
• Dynamic positioning system: Class III, Kongsberg Simrad
• Clear deck area 800 – 1500 sq m (8,611 – 16,146 sq ft)
• Modular S-lay pipelay system, 2 x 60 ton tensioners, 57.5-m (188-ft) stinger
• 800 ton Huisman-Itrec mast crane, heave compensated, with underwater capability
• 34 ton TTS pedestal deck crane
• Moon pool 8.3 x 7.6 m (27 x 24.9 ft) close to amidships.
