MELBOURNE, Victoria – The Macedon gas field offshore Western Australia will undergo development, says operator BHP Billiton. The Exmouth sub-basin reservoir will flow gas from offshore least WA-42-L, 100 km (62 mi) west of Onslow. First production is targeted for 2013.

BHP Billiton and its partner in the lease, Apache Northwest will share the $1.5 billion development cost.

Macedon will involve four offshore production wells and a wet gas pipeline to onshore treatment at Ashburton North. The gas plant design throughput will be 200 MMcf/d.
