ABERDEEN, UK – Repsol could drill two exploration wells next year on the Tanger-Larache concession offshore Morocco, according to partner Dana Petroleum.
Following last year’s discovery of the Anchois gas field, the partnership has acquired 1,336 sq km (516 sq mi) of 3D seismic and in addition 3D controlled-source electromagnetic surveys.
The new data sets cover most of the identified prospects and leads in the concession, and will be used to determine candidates for the 2011 well program. This currently comprises one firm exploration well and a contingent exploration well, and potentially a drillstem test on the Anchois-1 discovery, which was suspended for future re-entry.
Offshore Guinea, the Ramform Challengerstarted acquiring a 3,500-sq km (1,351-sq mi) 3D seismic survey this month for operator Hyperdynamics to obtain detailed imaging of multiple prospects identified from existing 2D data. Dana, a partner in the program, says that processing should be completed by year-end, allowing targets to be selected for drilling next year.
