Hess forms South Arne modification partnership

COPENHAGEN -- Operator Hess Denmark has formed an alliance with Danish engineering contractors Semco Maritime and Ramboll Oil & Gas for its South Arne Brownfield Modification project in the Danish North Sea.

The project, part of the South Arne Phase III development, is expected to gain sanction at the end of 2010. To meet the deadline, pre-sanction activity such as engineering and procurement of long lead items was initiated early this spring.

Hess says the purpose of the alliance is to ensure that all parties remain focused on the common objectives and that all work is implemented without unnecessary delays.

The alliance group covers disciplines including piping, structural, safety, planning, installation, procurement, electrical /instrumentation, and telecommunications.

The South Arne field is in water depths of around 60 m (197 ft). To date, 18 wells have been drilled, comprising 11 producers and seven water injectors. Two new producers are currently being drilled.

Hess’ brownfield project comprises three main parts:

1. Phase III tie-in to two new wellhead platforms

2. Upgrading of existing equipment (compressors and static equipment)

3. Studies and reports (design report, SRS report, structural, flare relief, firewater).

The project is a supplement contract to Ramboll’s existing frame agreement with Hess Denmark for modification and tie-in projects on the South Arne platform.

Installation of the wellhead platforms is scheduled for 2012 and the project should be completed early in 2013.
