Eni cleared to proceed with Marulk

SANDNES, Norway -- Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has approved the plan for development and operation for the Marulk gas condensate field in the Norwegian Sea.

This will be Eni Norge’s first operated field to come onstream on the Norwegian shelf. Partners in the $647-million development are Statoil and DONG E&P Norge. The planned production start-up is in spring 2012.

Marulk will be developed via two subsea production wells linked to the Statoil-operated Norne FPSO. The field is around 30 km (18.6 mi) southwest of the Norne field in a water depth of 365 m (1,197 ft). Recoverable reserves are estimated at 73 MMboe.

As operator of production license 122, Eni Norge has overall responsibility for the Marulk project activities. However, Statoil will perform the subsea development work from and including the subsea template, ready for wellhead system installation, to the tie-in point at the FPSO.
