Offshore staff
ABERDEEN, UK -- BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) has awarded EnerMech an £8.2-million ($12-million) crane operation, maintenance, and inspection contract for offshore Azerbaijan.
The three-year program includes provision of personnel for offshore crane operations in Baku, lifting equipment, engineering and technical services, spare parts, repair and refurbishment, and training services.
EnerMech’s work scope covers 12 offshore pedestal cranes operating in the Chirag, Central Azeri, West Azeri, East Azeri, and deepwater Gunashli field developments, as well as the Shah Deniz gas project, all in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.
On average, EnerMech expects to deploy 60 staff per year in Baku, including offshore core crews, ad hoc crews, and office staff, with Azeri nationals filling the majority of positions within 30 months of the contract start-up.
To support this goal, EnerMech will mobilize a new crane simulator to Baku for crane operator competency assessment, also providing additional onshore training for Azerbi staff.
