ABU DHABI -- Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Co. (ADMA-OPCO) has awarded National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) a $350-million EPC contract for a field enhancement program offshore Abu Dhabi.
The Zakum Central Super Complex (ZCSC) Demothballing Project forms part of ADMA-OPCO’s Lower Zakum 100 MMb/d program designed to lift oil production capacity from the Zakum Field progressively from 2012 onwards.
To deliver the extra production capacity, ADMA-OPCO is re-activating and re-commissioning the production facilities at the Zakum Central Super Complex, which were shut down and mothballed in the early 1980s.
NPCC’s scope of work involves detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up assistance for major complex brown field works on the Zakum Central Complex, and construction of a new 80-bed accommodation platform (NAP).
The NAP module, weighing around 3,500 metric tons (3,858 tons), will be installed by a float over technique. Associated work includes the installation of five boat landings on piles and a bridge connecting NAP with the existing ZCSC complex. Work is scheduled for completion within 30 months of the effective contract date of April 1, 2010.
