ABERDEEN -- EnQuest has contracted SPD for project management services to support the Don Southwest and West Don developments in the UK northern North Sea.

SPD will manage operations on Transocean’s semisubmersible John Shaw for a minimum of 180 days. The rig is contracted for a firm four-well program valued at over $120 million.

According to SPD managing director, Alex Macdonald, the John Shaw will be the second semi under the company’s management. The other is the Ocean Nomad, which is responsible for Valiant Petroleum’s Tybalt discovery, also in the UK North Sea.

SPD, a subsidiary of Petrofac Production Solutions, is in discussion with other companies interested in drilling wells later this year. “The John Shaw may offer the opportunity to add additional wells to our firm work program,” Macdonald added.

The company has recruited Scott Bradley to support its general business development throughout the UK and Africa, with a special focus on expanding SPD’s consultancy manpower service.
