Hallin contracts compact semisubmersible for intervention

SINGAPORE -- Drydocks World will build a new design compact semisubmersible well intervention vessel for Hallin Marine. The new vessel is designed to perform chemical injection on braided lines.

STX Canada Marine Inc. designed the vessel which will have four fixed-pitch azimuth thrusters and DP-3 capability. The semisub will be 84 m (275 ft), 8.200 dwt and include an active heave-compensated crane and two ROVs. One ROV will lauch via the moonpool and the other over the starboard side.

“It will enable the marine equivalent of keyhole surgery to subsea oil production systems,” says Denis Welch CEO of Drydocks World-South East Asia.
