ABERDEEN -- Apache has contracted Altra Energy for front-end engineering design (FEED) for a new production platform on the Forties field in the UK North Sea.
The consultancy will work with EPIC contractor SLP North Sea on the project.
Altra will perform engineering for the platform’s topside and bridge-link. Successful delivery, and sanction from Apache, will lead to a further program involving detailed engineering and commissioning work.
The contract will create around 30 new engineering jobs at Altra. Both the Apache and SLP teams will be based in Altra’s premises in central Aberdeen for the duration of the project. Apache is targeting completion of the platform and first oil during 2012.
