ADELAIDE -- BP has released the Nafta-1 rig from the location for the NS377-5 oil field development in the North Shadwan concession in the Gulf of Suez.

According to partner Beach Energy, an electric submersible pump has been successfully commissioned, with the well pumped to clean up for around two hours at a steady rate of 2,500 b/d.

Well results suggest an initial combined rate of over 3,000 b/d can be sustained when the NS377-3 and NS377-5 wells are brought on stream later this year. Extended-reach drilling offshore is being performed from a location on the Egyptian coast.
