Saipem awarded Bonga North-West field subsea development contract

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. (SNEPCo) has awarded Saipem a $200-million contract for the subsea development of the Bonga North-West field in OML 118, off the Nigerian coast.

MILAN -- Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. (SNEPCo) has awarded Saipem a $200-million contract for the subsea development of the Bonga North-West field in OML 118, off the Nigerian coast.

The contract encompasses engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning services for 13 km (8 mi) of 10/12-in. (25/30-cm) production pipe-in-pipe flowlines, 4 km (2.5 mi) of 12-in. (30-cm) water injection flowlines as well as related production facilities. The contract also includes the installation of 15 km (9.3 mi) of umbilicals.

Bonga North-West is in approximately 900 to 1,200 m (2,953 to 3,937 ft) of water and will be developed with 12 subsea wells tied back to the Bonga main infrastructure.

The vessels Saipem FDS and Saipem 3000 will carry out most of the work between the second half of 2012 and 4Q 2013.
