CALGARY, Canada -- Nexen says its UK North Sea production volumes are at a record high following turnaround programs at the Buzzard and Scott complexes, and output from the newly onstream Ettrick field.
Buzzard was shut in for four weeks to install the jacket for a fourth platform, and to coincide with maintenance work on the Forties pipeline. The field is back to full rates and is producing 200,000-220,000 boe/d.
Work on Scott/Telford led to these fields being shut down for around five weeks. Both are now back in service, and additional output from a new step-out well at Telford, which encountered 254 ft (77 m) net oil pay, has helped double production from the Scott platform.
Nexen has identified further upside at Telford which should lead to further drilling in 2010. Also next year, the company plans to drill exploration prospects west of Shetland (Uist) and in the Norwegian North Sea (Brand).
In Nigerian deepwater license OPL 223, Nexen participated earlier this year in the Owowo South B-1 exploratory well, operated by Total. The results are expected shortly.
