J. Ray McDermott completes Yuri Korchagin field installation

BAKU, Azerbaijan -- J. Ray McDermott’s Caspian subsidiary has completed the installation of offshore facilities at the Yuri Korchagin field for OOO LUKOIL-Nizhnevolzhskneft.

The Yuri Korchagin field is in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea and features offshore facilities including an ice-resistant fixed processing platform (LSP-1) and adjacent living quarters (LSP-2) joined together by a 243-ft (74-m) bridge. Oil from LSP-1 will be delivered to an FSO and single point mooring (SPM) via a 36-mi (58-km), 12-in (30-cm) pipeline.

J. Ray performed the transportation and installation of 14 foundation piles for LSP-1. Under the contract, the company also completed transportation and installation of the 1,005-ton (912-metric ton) SPM substructure, including five foundation piles and the SPM deck. The company also hooked up the SPM deck to the substructure.

Additional work included engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, and installation of tie-in spools connecting LSP-1 and the SPM to the subsea pipeline as well as hydrostatic leak testing and flushing of the entire pipeline system. The company also performed transportation and installation of the FSO, followed by connection to the SPM system and testing.

Fabrication of the installation aids was performed by the company’s base at Baku Deepwater Jacket Factory. For the offshore installation work, J. Ray used six Caspian Marine Services vessels.
