STOCKHOLM – Production has begun from the Azurite field in the Mer Profond Sud (MPS) block offshore Republic of Congo, according to PA Resources.

The development uses the industry's first floating production storage and offloading facility with drilling capability (FDPSO). The FDPSO has storage capacity of 1.3 MMbbl of oil and processing capability of 40,000 b/d of oil. The vessel is also being used for drilling and completion of production and injection wells.

“The Azurite project marks an innovative approach to deepwater development,” says Ulrik Jansson, president and CEO of PA Resources.” Production from the field will continue to ramp up for the remainder of the year as additional wells are brought on stream.”
