Thunder Hawk field onstream in GoM

Production has begun from the Murphy Oil-operated Thunder Hawk field in the US Gulf of Mexico, according to partner StatoilHydro.

HOUSTON -- Production has begun from the Murphy Oil-operated Thunder Hawk field in the US Gulf of Mexico, according to partner StatoilHydro.

The Thunder Hawk field production unit has a production capacity of 45,000 b/d of oil and 70 MMcf/d of natural gas (approximately 0.7 bcm per year). The semisubmersible platform will receive production from three subsea wells in water depths of more than 1,700 m (5,577 ft)

Thunder Hawk was discovered in 2004 and sanctioned in 2006. The field is located in Mississippi Canyon block 734.
