CNOOC makes two discoveries in Bohai Bay

CNOOC has hit pay with the Bozhong (BZ) 2-1 and Qinhuangdao (QHD) 29-2 wells.

HONG KONG -- CNOOC has hit pay with the Bozhong (BZ) 2-1 and Qinhuangdao (QHD) 29-2 wells.

BZ 2-1 is located in the west of Bozhong Sag, about 6 km (3.7 mi) southeast of BZ 3-2 oil field. The discovery well BZ 2-1-2 penetrated oil pay zones with total thickness of 50.9 m (167 ft). The well drilled to a total depth of 3,910 m (12,828 ft), with water depth of about 26 m (85 ft)

The well was tested to flow at an average rate of 1,270 b/d of oil and 393,000 cf/d of natural gas via 11.91-mm choke, the company says.

The discovery well QHD 29-2-1, located southeast of Qinnan Sag, encountered oil pay zones with total thickness of 34.7 m (114 ft) and gas pay zones of 47.9 m (157 ft), the company says

The company has carried out drill stem test for four layers, and the well flowed at an average rate of 3,930 b/d of oil and 15.2 MMcf/d of natural gas.
