Aker to build CO2 capture plant in Norway

OSLO -- Aker Clean Carbon (ACC) has signed an EPC contract with Aker Solutions for the construction of the European CO2 Technology center in Mongstad, Norway. Aker Clean Carbon will provide the technology, project management and carry through commissioning and initial operation of the plant while Aker Solutions will build the plant according to an agreement between the parties

The engineering starts immediately and Aker Solutions will deliver a mechanical complete test plant for capturing CO2 at Mongstad during the summer of 2011. Pipe racks and several packages of equipment will be built and assembled at Aker Solutions' yard at Stord. The installation work at Mongstad will be carried out during 2010.

Aker Solutions will also assist Aker Clean Carbon during a six-month commissioning period.
