Offshore staff
KASSEL, Germany -- Wintershall has signed an agreement for the exploration of block 4N offshore Qatar. The block is located close to the North field, the largest natural gas field in the world, and covers 544 sq km (210 sq mi) in water depths of 70 m (230 ft). Wintershall will be operator and 100% license holder.
The existing seismic data will be reprocessed and interpreted, the company says. In the next two years, Wintershall plans to acquire additional seismic data, and expects to drill the first two exploration wells by 2010.
The block 4N (Khuff) exploration and production sharing agreement has a 25-year term.
